OLD STURBRIDGE VILLAGE MEETINGHOUSE An H-0 Scale Model - Cut and
[0486269108]
$4.95 $3.96

In many New England towns the most imposing structure is the white clapboard meetinghouse, with its graceful steeple towering above the housetops. Generally located on the town common, it perhaps best represents the timeless, traditional quality of New England village life.

With this book paper crafters and miniaturists can create an accurately detailed H-0 scale model of the Center Meetinghouse originally built by the Baptist Society in 1832. Typical of the Greek Revival-style churches that dotted the New England countryside in the first half of the 19th century, the actual structure is now part of the museum village of Old Sturbridge, Massachusetts--a recreated community where "residents" demonstrate everyday New England activities of long ago.

Model builders will find complete step-by-step instructions and a helpful diagram for scoring, folding, cutting and gluing the component parts: walls and roof, doors and windows, Grecian pillars, porch, pediment, belfry (with weathervane), clocks and an adjoining walled cemetery with gravestones and a gate.

Carefully researched and designed, this realistic model of a classic New England building makes an excellent classroom project for students and an entertaining and challenging activity for hobbyists.
