"The "Char de cavalerie" Somua S35 was the tank which equipped the french cavalry units, the Divisions L?g?res M?caniques, during WWII. The S35 was specialised for carrying out deep strategic penetrations and destroying enemy armoured units . This medium tank is often considered as the best one of the thirties and remained so until the beginning of WWII. It was made of cast parts instead of bolted plates, and largely inspired the american Sherman M3. With a good armor in the turret, an excellent gun and relatively fast, it suffered only from its one man turret."
