"The T-26 Soviet light tank was based on the British Vickers 6-Ton tank. The T26 first saw combat in the Manchurian border against Japanese forces in 1934-1935. During the Spanish civil war of 1936-39, Republican Spaniards received T-26 tanks from Soviet Union which completely outclassed and easily destroy Nationalist tanks, including German Panzer I. The T-26 was the most numerous tank in Red Army units when Germany invaded the Soviet Union. It outclassed the still-numerous Panzer II and matched the German Panzer 35(t) and Panzer 38(t) light tanks, but was already overtaken by the German Panzer III and IV."
