The Renault FT-17 is among the most outstanding and influential tank design in history. It was the first tank with a fully rotating turret on the top. Alongside the engine in the back and the driver in front, this became the classic layout of every modern tanks.The FT-17 was intended to constitute the spearhead of the offensive planned for 1919 and it was effectively used by the French and the Americans in the latter stages of World War I in 1918. The tank was inexpensive to build and well-suited for mass production. After the war, FT-17 were exported to many countries and used by most nations, including the United States. It was copied by the Italian FIAT 3000, and the Soviet T-18 and took part in many later conflicts, including the WWII although they were completely obsolete by then."
