"The Hotchkiss H35 was a light and small tank designed in 1935 to support the french infantry units. But its better adequacy to road than off-road ground and its higher speed than the rival Renault R35 tank, led the cavalry to adopt it together with the Somua S35. Its hull was made of cast parts with sloped armour to increase its deflection power. In 1937, a new model called H39 was designed to correct some flaws of the H35 version. This Tank was first used in 1940 during Narvik expedition following the german invasion of Norway. During the invasion of Belgium, it took great part in the first tank battles of the war. Then, it was also used by the german army as Panzerkampfwagen 35H in balkan countries against partisans, and few of them were converted in tank destroyers or rocket launchers."
