Here's an easy-to-do papercraft project that will delight anyone fascinated by the mystery and magnificence of ancient Egypt.
Simple directions and a helpful diagram explain how to assemble a handsome miniature of a mummy case that once held the remains of a royal architect who lived during the reign of Ramses 11 (1304-1237 B.C.). Approximately 11 1/4" long, 3 1/2" wide and 4" deep, the vividly colored and elaborately ornamented sarcophagusembellished with hieroglyphics, emblems of gods of the dead and other decorative artwork-comes complete with a removable lid and a gauze-shrouded figure pictured inside the case.
No scissors are needed to construct the accurately detailed replica. Simply punch out the pieces along perforated lines and assemble according to instructions. It's a project that's equally perfect for social studies classes and for hobbyists intent on creating a striking conversation piece.
Original Dover (1993) publication. 6 full-color plates with parts. Introduction and instructions. 12pp. 9 1/4 x 12 1/4. Paperbound.
