Lighthouses and their dramatic links to the sea have long been objects of popular fascination. With this easy-to-assemble model, youngsters (and adults) can construct their own replica of an imposing seaside sentinel.
Based in part on the early-19th-century Dice Head Light Station in Maine, the structure features a 10"-high octagonal tower with a circular walkway and realistically drawn beacon. A single-story passageway connects the lofty red-and-white tower to the caretaker's cozy twostory white clapboard cottage. A picket fence and rowboat complete an impressive and accurately rendered model that is approximately 12" long and 5" wide.
Step-by-step instructions and clear diagrams, together with a few simple tools and glue, enable papercrafters of all ages to assemble this exciting outpost of maritime life.
